Job Description Summary As a Legal Analyst at Goosehead headquarters, you will support the Company’s legal department with primary responsibility for supporting and advancing the risk, claims, and regulatory (RCR) function. You will play a critical role in managing professional liability matters and Department of Insurance investigations and responses.

You will manage assigned matters with increasing independence, develop well-supported recommendations for Claims Manager approval, and contribute to broader legal analysis and risk initiatives through data analytics and reporting. This role requires a proactive individual who exercises sound claims judgment, takes ownership of investigations and deadlines, and recognizes when additional guidance or escalation is necessary.

You will partner with the Claims Manager, attorneys, paralegals, and internal business teams to support timely, accurate, and well-documented outcomes .

Key Responsibilities

Own routine-to-moderately complex professional liability claims from intake through resolution or transition to the paralegal team, including fact gathering, document review, exposure analysis, and stakeholder communication. Evaluate investigation findings and prepare clear, fact-based claim denial recommendations and settlement proposals for Claims Manager approval; coordinate approved next steps within established authority and procedures.

Serve as the primary owner of DOI investigations and responses, including gathering records, developing factual analyses, drafting responses, coordinating required internal review, and submitting approved responses by applicable deadlines. Independently manage matter timelines, follow-ups, and response deadlines to meet established service standards; identify competing priorities and seek extensions when appropriate and permitted.

Maintain accurate, complete, and current claim and complaint records in legal tracking systems, documenting investigation findings, supporting evidence, communications, approvals, and outcomes. Support responses to insurance carrier inquiries by collecting documentation, investigating facts, and preparing clear summaries and draft responses for review.

Identify and promptly escalate material legal or regulatory risks, complex or disputed issues, and matters that exceed assigned authority; coordinate complete and timely handoffs to the paralegal team or attorneys. Support claims reporting, trend analysis, and loss-prevention initiatives under Claims Manager direction, including identifying recurring issues and preparing reliable data and summaries.

Support the paralegal team on litigated matters through document collection, timeline development, and factual investigation. Assist with legal and regulatory research, special projects, and broader risk initiatives under appropriate legal and enterprise compliance department guidance. Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to documentation, recurring workflows, and matter tracking.

Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience preferred. At least 1-3 years of experience in insurance claims, regulatory complaint handling, legal support, or a related analytical role.

Qualifications

Sound claims judgment and risk awareness, with the ability to evaluate facts, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and recognize when escalation or additional review is needed. Exceptional attention to detail, including strong proofreading, grammar, and editing skills, with a high degree of factual accuracy. Strong written communication, proofreading, and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare accurate, clear, and defensible written analyses and regulatory submissions supported by the record.

Strong verbal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and professionally across departments. Ability to interpret insurance documentation, learn applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and apply established procedures with appropriate guidance. Ability to identify trends, contribute to reporting and risk analysis, and suggest practical process improvements.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe, and ability to conduct internet research and quickly learn matter management and reporting tools; experience with Salesforce is required.
