Cape Joy is a working wine farm, restaurant, and guesthouse in the heart of Klapmuts. We are looking for a Weekend Barista to lead our coffee offering delivering consistently excellent coffee, training junior staff, and ensuring our coffee station runs like clockwork.
Requirements
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a barista in a high-volume environment Advanced knowledge of coffee extraction, milk texturing, and latte art Strong understanding of coffee bean origins, roasting profiles, and flavour notes Experience training or mentoring junior staff Reliable transport to and from Klapmuts (essential) Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Sharp attention to detail and consistency Work on Friday's to Sunday's A warm, guest-focused attitude Advantageous (but not essential): Barista certification (e.
g. SCA, CQI, or similar) Experience in a luxury hospitality or wine farm setting Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards Experience with stock management and ordering systems What you will bring: A passion for coffee and excellent customer service Attention to detail and consistency in every cup Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages with precision and consistency Train and mentor junior baristas sharing techniques, recipes, and best practices Maintain and troubleshoot espresso machines and coffee equipment Manage stock control ordering coffee beans, milk, and supplies to minimise waste Develop and refine coffee recipes and seasonal specials Ensure the coffee station meets hygiene and presentation standards at all times Provide exceptional guest service — engaging with guests, handling queries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere Assist with Food &Beverage operations during peak times as needed To apply, please send your CV and a short note about your barista experience to hr@capejoy.
