A salary range of $65,000 - $70,000 (dependent on experience), bonus, and opportunities to grow your career in the sports lifestyle. What You’ll Do; As an Assistant Manager with Sporting Life, you will lead customer service across the store, ensuring operational standards are met and delivered.
With this role, you will report to and partner closely with the Store General Manager (SGM), supporting with accurate reporting, sales and profit achievement, P&L management, inventory management, productivity and staff performance, control of assets, and staff recruitment and selection. Lead the sales floor, including Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities, to ensure exceptional customer service and effective store execution.
Coach and develop Department Managers and associates to strengthen selling skills, customer service, product knowledge, and overall performance. Monitor floor coverage and adjust resources based on customer and business needs to maintain a seamless shopping experience. Resolve customer concerns and provide timely coaching to reinforce service standards and improve the customer experience.
Drive departmental performance by coaching teams toward achievement of sales targets, KPIs, and operational goals. Support associate development through ongoing feedback, performance reviews, succession planning, recognition, and career development. Partner with store leadership on recruitment needs, participate in candidate interviews, and support onboarding and orientation of new hires.
Lead daily huddles, sales initiatives, contests, and in-store events to drive team engagement and business results. Oversee store operational standards, including opening and closing procedures, maintenance, replenishment, markdowns, and overall department readiness. Monitor inventory and merchandise needs, identify gaps, and support the development and execution of inventory improvement plans.
Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, health and safety standards, incident reporting, and required training. Identify training needs and ensure Department Managers and associates complete required training, management development, and product knowledge programs within established timelines. What You’ll Bring; 3-4 years of senior retail management experience, in a comparable volume store, with P&L responsibility Superior communication skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels Superior Product Knowledge Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train team to achieve desired outcomes Strong sense of urgency in dealing with business and staff needs Strong multi- tasking and time management skills Ability to think in a disciplined and logical manner in an ever-changing environment Superior analytical skills Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and POS systems.
