Swim Instructor

Job Details: Level: Entry, Job Location: YMCA of Hagerstown

• Hagerstown, MD, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00Hourly, GENERAL FUNCTION:
• Provides direct leaderships, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Provide the YMCA instruction for students about safety around water.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA guidelines, having prepared lessons plans accordingly.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement with students.
• Maintains record as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.)
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
• Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child. EFFECT ON END RESULTS:

Qualifications

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age of 16 (15 for Instructor Aides)
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
• Redwood Training for Aquatic Department.
• CPR/First Aid/AED training.
• Must be available on days, evenings, and weekends.
