Chief Operating Officer - Community Mental Health Center

Job Summary

Vera French Community Mental Health Center is seeking a mission-driven Chief Operating Officer to lead clinical programs and day-to-day operations. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will turn strategic priorities into effective operations, strengthen quality and access, and support coordinated, trauma-informed care across programs and locations. This is a full-time, exempt, C-suite executive position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operations, clinical oversight, quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

• Partner with executive leadership on strategy, performance measures, budgets, and sustainable solutions.

• Use operational, clinical, workforce, and financial data to improve services and outcomes.

• Develop leaders and promote engagement and accountability across multidisciplinary teams.

• Guide program growth, grants, partnerships, and coordinated service delivery.

• Participate in clinical on-call responsibilities and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of administrative leadership experience; senior healthcare or behavioral health leadership preferred.

• Experience leading nonprofit, clinical, or community-focused programs and multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong operational, financial, analytical, communication, planning, and change-leadership skills.

• Behavioral health-related master's degree desired; applicable professional licensure preferred.

• Valid driver's license and ability to meet screening and insurance requirements.
