What you will be doing: You’ll be responsible for the preparation of all center meals within an established budget allowance in accordance with pre-planned menus in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential functions

Provide supervision of cafeteria services on assigned shift in absence of food services supervisor. Ensure quality of production and food purchase requirements; minimize waste through efficient storage, inventory and food utilization. Maintain food service areas in a sanitary and safe condition; conduct and coordinate daily inspections of food service areas on assigned shift.

Ensure preparation of food service for special center functions and visitors on assigned shift. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting food service. Perform cooking duties as needed. W hen the Food Service Supervisor is not available including prepare and create menu items and cook food from the menu.

Assist in cleaning kitchen and dining areas to always ensure adequate health standards.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent Technical training in food services and three years’ related experience. Valid food handler's permit if required in the state of employment. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required.
