Teacher, Assistant K-5

Description The Lower School Teacher Assistant will be responsible for supporting the classroom teacher(s) in fostering a dynamic and creative learning environment that engages students with the curriculum and its concepts through student-centered, differentiated instruction. The teacher will work effectively as a member of a grade-level team to plan all aspects of the program and its activities, and will demonstrate a passion for teaching lower-school-age students, a growth mindset, flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage and inspire students.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, or related field preferred. Teaching and/or assistant teaching experience preferred. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of middle school curriculum and pedagogy. Ability to respect and protect the confidentiality of the students, families, and Lake Tahoe School information Ability to model professionalism, flexibility, and leadership aligned with the mission and values of the school.

Represent the school positively in the larger community, reflecting the school's values. Ability to interface and maintain effective and professional relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents/guardians. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, parents/guardians, and students.

High degree of cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong understanding of best practices, curriculum design, vertical alignment, and assessment practices at the middle school level.
