We are seeking driven, professional & energetic candidates to join our Residential Operations team for the position of Maintenance Technician, Team Leader located at our properties located in Kingston, Ontario. As a Maintenance Technician, Team Leader, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the physical integrity, safety, and appearance of our residential properties while supporting and guiding maintenance team members across the assigned region.
You’ll help ensure maintenance work, repairs, inspections, supplies, and standard operating procedures are completed efficiently, safely, and in line with Skyline’s standards. From completing hands-on maintenance and repairs to mentoring team members and supporting safe work practices, you’ll help create well-maintained communities’ residents are proud to call home.
What You’ll Be Doing Complete general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across occupied and vacant units, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and suite turn tasks. Support the day-to-day maintenance of residential properties by keeping common areas, exits, storage rooms, boiler rooms, walkways, and grounds clean, safe, accessible, and in good working order.
Organize, prioritize, and delegate maintenance tasks to ensure the timely completion of work orders, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities, while using property management and maintenance systems to track, assign, document, and monitor work in accordance with Skyline policies, Health & Safety requirements, and applicable legislation.
Perform inspections, monitor emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, elevators, and building systems, and complete required safety checks and operational tasks to ensure the property remains safe, compliant, and well maintained. Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to members of the team, promoting safe work practices, knowledge sharing, accountability, and consistent service standards across the region.
What You Bring At least two years of experience operating and maintaining HVAC equipment, BAS, and FAS in a Class A residential complex. Strong maintenance, painting, cleaning, troubleshooting, and general repair skills, with an understanding of intermediate plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. A service-focused approach, with the ability to build rapport with residents, communicate clearly, and respond to maintenance needs professionally.
Leadership skills, enthusiasm, patience, reliability, and the ability to work independently while supporting, motivating, and coordinating a team. Experience mentoring, training, and providing guidance to Maintenance Technicians, promoting safe work practices, knowledge sharing, and consistent service standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize work, delegate tasks, stay detail oriented, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new technology quickly.
