Emergency Medicine Physician Part Time

City/State: White Plains, New York Department: Emergency Medicine Physicians_2 Work Shift: Day Work Days: DAYS VARY Scheduled Hours: Hours Vary Hours Per Pay Period: 48 Pay Rate/Range: Contractual Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Medicine, provides medical care to patients in the Emergency Department. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Understands and adheres to all WPH policies and procedures Evaluates and treats patients presenting themselves for care in the Emergency Department. Provides medical control to paramedics and ambulance personnel. Consults with private physicians concerning their patients in the Emergency Department and advises them concerning the need for admission of their patients to the hospital.

Make appropriate referrals to attending physicians Institutes immediate intervention in life or disability-threatening emergencies. Is responsible for the safety of patients in the department in the absence of their private physician. Documents evaluation of and treatment given to all patients in the Emergency Department medical record.

Provides each patient with discharge instructions, both oral and written. In the absence of the Director of the Department, the E.D. physician on duty is responsible for the operation of the department and provides medical direction to all staff. Works assigned shifts and does not leave the department at any time unless relieved by another E.

Participates in local and regional EMS activities and educational programs Performs all other duties as assigned Qualifications Doctor of Medicine Required 1-3 years Completion of at least three years of post-graduate training in an appropriate primary care specialty Required Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills listed in the delineation of privileges for Emergency Department Physicians.
