Position: Long-Term Substitute School Nurse (RN) Location: Cornwall Consolidated School, West Cornwall, CT Approximate Start/End Date: February 17, 2027

• May 26, 2027 Duration: Approximately 60 school days Make a Difference Every Day Regional School District No. 1 seeks a compassionate, collaborative, student-centered Registered Nurse to join our school community as a long-term substitute. School nurses play a vital role in supporting students' health, safety, and well-being, helping them remain healthy, engaged, and ready to learn. Working closely with administrators, educators, families, healthcare providers, and community partners, the School Nurse provides professional nursing services, promotes healthy school environments, responds to medical emergencies, and coordinates care for students with acute and chronic health needs. This position follows the school calendar, offering an excellent work-life balance while providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students every day.

Qualifications

Applicants must: Hold a current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license. Meet the qualifications for a Connecticut school nurse under applicable Connecticut statutes and regulations. Hold current CPR certification. Have at least one year of nursing experience within the past five years; experience in pediatric, adolescent, community, or public health nursing is preferred.

Demonstrate strong assessment, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Primary Responsibilities: The School Nurse will: Provide professional nursing care and emergency medical treatment to students and staff. Assess student health concerns and develop appropriate nursing interventions. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, state law, and Board of Education policy.

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans and emergency care plans. Maintain accurate student health records and required state documentation, including immunization and health compliance records. Collaborate with families, physicians, school personnel, and community agencies to support student health needs.

Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and other multidisciplinary teams as appropriate. Provide health education, training, and consultation to students and staff. Monitor communicable diseases and assist with infection prevention and public health reporting. Support the District's wellness initiatives, school safety, and crisis response efforts.

Perform other school health services duties as assigned. Schedule: 6.75 hours per day, following the school calendar . Hours: Monday�Friday, 8:15 a.m. � 3:00 p.m. Salary & Benefits: Salary: $36.00 per hour.
