Research Specialist

• This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton. Applies advanced knowledge and technical expertise in their field to perform and complete research activities under the direction of a Principal Investigator. Investigate the effect of the abiotic environment on plant growth with plasma-activated water. Investigate the possibility of enhanced nitrogen fixation using a two-phase nozzle. Assist Postdoctoral researchers in constructing a chamber for automated treatment of seeds and the relevant experiments, and for prototyping sensors. Prepare and assist in preparing new manuscripts. Draft and prepare responses for previously submitted manuscripts. Maintain lab safety and cleanliness, update on lab duties every week, and perform lab inductions for new lab members. Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. 2+ years of relevant research experience, including experimental design, laboratory research, data analysis, and troubleshooting. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to strategize and develop creative and efficient solutions. Demonstrated skills in data visualization, interpretation, presentation, and reporting. Experience with mentoring and training junior team members and/or students.
