Job description
Our client is a prominent Nigerian conglomerate with operations across various sectors, including manufacturing, retail, distribution, marketing, and power generation. They are currently seeking to hire a generator operator with strong technical expertise and a solid background in this field. Role Overview: The generator operator will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of electrical generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
They will oversee the start-up, running, shutdown, and routine inspections of generators.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor generators to ensure efficient and safe performance. Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on generator equipment. Identify and troubleshoot generator faults and system malfunctions. Maintain accurate logs of generator performance, fuel levels, and maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Coordinate with engineers or technicians for major repairs or servicing. Monitor fuel consumption and arrange timely refuelling. Assist in installing and testing new generators when required.
Requirements
OND or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Must have hands-on experience operating or servicing 11KV gas or diesel generators. Familiarity with power plant equipment, including generators, breakers, switch-gears, compressors, and related systems. Prior experience as a Generator Operator or Service Technician in a power generation or industrial setting is required.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical system. Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on generator units and associated equipment. Commitment to safety and adherence to standard operating procedures
