• August) Position Title:Park Manager Intern Hiring Manager: John Bame Agency:Department of Game Fish Parks Location: Madison, SD
• Lake Herman State Park Minimum Salary: $20.82 hourly *APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER. Position Description: Intern will be responsible for scheduling, directing and working with volunteers, full time and seasonal staff in all aspects of the operations of a State Park or Recreation Area and other areas as assigned.

Essential duties

may include but are not limited to the following: public relations, permit sales, fee collection, point of sales and reservation systems and data collection for end of month reports, directing and assisting the park naturalist's in programming, historical research and implementation of historical information for interpretive and educational purposes, assist in landscaping projects, maintenance of equipment and facilities, facility sanitation, and administrative duties.

Candidate with be required to choose a project to be completed within the summer that will promote efficiency in one area of park operations. Working weekends, Housing available.

Qualifications

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
