Vice President, Merchandising

The Market. Place Ltd. invites applications from experienced, commercially driven retail leaders for the position of Vice President, Merchandising, reporting directly to the President. The successful candidate will lead the company’s merchandising strategy, driving category performance, product assortment, pricing, supplier partnerships, and inventory productivity to support sustainable, profitable growth and exceptional customer value.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute merchandising and category strategies to maximize sales, margins, and profitability. Oversee product assortment, pricing, promotions, and category performance. Optimize inventory levels, replenishment, product availability, and working capital. Lead supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and vendor relationships.

Build and develop a high-performing merchandising team. Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Distribution, and store leadership to ensure effective execution.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of senior leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving sales performance and operational efficiency. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience. Candidates should possess progressive leadership experience in merchandising, buying, or category management within grocery, supermarket, food retail, or a related industry.

A strong track record in category P&L management, supplier negotiations, inventory optimization, and team leadership is essential. Experience in international sourcing, import-dependent retail, private label, or fresh-food merchandising is highly desirable. Closing date for applications: October 31, 2026
