Here is how the Midstream E&C Facilities Engineer Intern role will impact our business
The Facilities Engineer Intern is a summer position designed to provide students with immersive, hands-on experience in midstream facilities engineering, design, construction, and commissioning. Working within the Facilities group, the intern will support active projects involving natural gas compression, dehydration, measurement, regulation, interconnects, and other midstream facility infrastructure. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to real-world midstream project execution, learn industry best practices, and contribute meaningfully to EQT’s facilities initiatives.
Through collaboration with experienced engineers, project managers, construction personnel, operations, and other technical disciplines, the intern will build a strong foundation in midstream facility development, project execution, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist facilities engineering and project management teams with day-to-day technical and administrative tasks.
- Support engineering design reviews, equipment and material evaluations, drawing reviews, project documentation, and construction tracking.
- Participate in field visits, facility walkdowns, construction inspections, commissioning activities, or operational reviews as assigned.
- Help organize and maintain engineering drawings, equipment documentation, as-built records, inspection reports, and project files.
- Attend team meetings and shadow field and office personnel to gain a full understanding of the facilities project lifecycle—from conceptual design and engineering through construction, commissioning, and operation.
- Conduct research, engineering calculations, data analysis, or technical presentations supporting facility design, optimization, reliability, and project execution initiatives.
- Learn and apply EQT’s safety protocols, engineering standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and environmental procedures.
- Collaborate across engineering, construction, operations, land, permitting, compliance, supply chain, and other disciplines to understand how cross-functional teams integrate within midstream facility projects.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated interest in midstream facilities, natural gas infrastructure, energy systems, or field operations.
- Basic understanding of engineering design, process systems, mechanical equipment, or construction processes preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with AutoCAD, process simulation, CAD/design software, or engineering data tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field settings.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to project sites as required.
Program Details
- Duration: Summer Internship (typically May–August)
- Location: Pittsburgh, PA area, with potential field assignments across EQT’s operating footprint
