Job Details: Salary Range: Undisclosed, The Offset Print Plate Maker is responsible for producing high-quality printing plates for offset presses using computer-to-plate (CTP) systems. This position ensures plates are accurate, press-ready, and produced according to job specifications while maintaining quality, efficiency, and safety standards.

Position is an apprenticeship for Pre-press Facilitator position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and maintain Computer-to-Plate (CTP) equipment to produce offset printing plates. Review job tickets and digital files to verify accuracy and completeness before plate output. Ensure correct plate size, thickness, and material are used per press requirements. Inspect plates for defects such as scratches, image inconsistencies, or exposure errors.

Perform quality checks including registration marks, color bars, and image clarity. Label, package and staging of plates, gather all materials including, but not limited to Job Folder, Plates, Coating Blankets for press and placing in proper job sequence. Maintain plate inventory and track usage. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CTP equipment and processors.

Troubleshoot plate or imaging issues and communicate with prepress or press departments as needed. Set-up and operation of CAD table to pre-cut and strip press coating blankets, including loading of electronic file for blanket. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Maintain organized and clean work area. Fill out the Plate checkoff list on every job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.

1–3 years of experience in offset printing, prepress, or plate making preferred. Familiarity with CTP systems and RIP software. Good computer skills relevant to operation of CTP device, CAD table and Spectrophotometer are required. Ability to read and interpret job tickets and production schedules. Strong attention to detail and quality control.

Basic mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs. Frequent bending, lifting, and handling of aluminum plates. Ability to work around production machinery and chemicals.

Work Environment Manufacturing/production facility. Exposure to noise and printing materials. Overtime and flexible scheduling may be required based on production needs.
