Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician III

Organization: PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation PAD Position Overview: Supports and participates in the overall operation of the pharmacy technicians, including staffing and work assignments of the technicians. Serves as the liaison between the department and staff, information systems, physicians, patients, family, and other site staff.

Performs pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Exercises sound judgment and has developed clinical skills to provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.

May also be responsible for performing specific tasks and/or orient other staff to the department. This position is primarily remote; however, occasional onsite presence may be required based on operational needs, including meetings, training, staff support, or other business needs. Job Description : EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program OR Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician OR PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician OR TCH-Pharmacy Technician TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 4 years recent relevant experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.

Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures. Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications. Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC. Job Shift: Days Schedule: Full Time Shift Hours: 8 Days of the Week: Monday

Pay Range

is $40.05 to $56.07 / hour The posted pay range is based on the position's primary work location. Candidates who reside and work outside of that location may be subject to a different pay range based on their work location. Candidate starting salaries consider multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
