Bag Machine - Operator in training

Position Summary

This position is responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of the organization by operating and maintaining bag machinery used in the manufacturing process, in addition to, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties

Safley sets up, operates, and monitors bag machinery and equipment as intended and needed to meet customer and production goals.

Completes bag machine setup for production runs, including loading materials, adjusting settings, and calibrating equipment to ensure proper operation. Monitors the production process, inspects and tests materials and equipment using safe and proper protocols, to ensure products meet quality standards and production quotas are met.

Verifies and tracks all materials for inventory and work in progress regulations. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery operating efficiently. Trains and provides guidance to machine assistants and new crew members. Keeps machinery and surrounding areas organized by meeting housekeeping, storage, staging, and cleanliness requirements.

Effectively works with other departments or team members, such as machine technicians, supervisors, and quality control inspectors, to coordinate production activities and address any potential issues as they arise.

All other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Education and Experience HS/GED required; HS/GED preferred 2-4 years' experience in a related field experience in a related field required. This position has no leadership duties. Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information. Exceptional time management and organization skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients. Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision-making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.

May be exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, inks, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area. This role routinely works around moving equipment. May need to get on and off equipment, stairs, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to type, hold, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
