Job description
What you will do
The Cement Terminal Supervisor is responsible for overseeing safe, efficient, and reliable day-to-day terminal operations in a high-volume cement distribution environment. This role leads railcar offloading, outbound shipment execution, inventory accuracy, preventative maintenance coordination, and employee supervision across a 24-hour operation.
The supervisor serves as a key point of contact for internal teams and external partners while ensuring compliance with safety standards, operating procedures, and service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily cement terminal operations, including railcar offloading, product handling, storage, and high-volume outbound shipments. Coordinate staffing and workflow to support continuous 24-hour operations while maintaining productivity and service levels. Promote a safety-first culture at all times by enforcing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Monitor inventory levels, reconcile variances, and maintain accurate product movement records. Track railcars, coordinate with rail carriers, and ensure timely movement of inbound and outbound equipment. Communicate effectively with external entities, including carriers, vendors, customers, and service providers.
Use and support operational systems such as SAP, COUPA, BNSF, and UPRR to manage shipments, procurement, tracking, and reporting. Lead, train, coach, and develop employees to improve performance, capability, and operational consistency. Investigate operational issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include experience in terminal, manufacturing, logistics, bulk material handling, or industrial operations; supervisory experience in a fast-paced operating environment; working knowledge of rail logistics, inventory control, and maintenance coordination; familiarity with SAP, COUPA, BNSF, and UPRR systems; strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and the ability to lead teams across multiple shifts.
Working Conditions: This position operates in an active industrial terminal environment and may require work across varying shifts to support 24-hour operations. The role may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, moving equipment, dust, noise, and frequent coordination with operations personnel, maintenance teams, and transportation partners.
Core Expectations: Success in this role requires a visible commitment to safety, strong operational leadership, sound decision-making, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to employee training and development. The Cement Terminal Supervisor is expected to model accountability, maintain effective communication, and support reliable terminal performance every day.
