Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Pharmacy Inpatient | Work Hours: 0700-1530 | Weekend Requirements: One | 0.5 FTE Job Summary: Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for the registered pharmacist.

Job Responsibilities

Processes prescriptions and requests for refills from patients. Orders and maintains inventory. May communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients in person or via telephone as needed. Inputs privileged health information into computer system. May refill and maintain automated dispensing system.

May perform IV fluid activities and IV admixture functions including IV chemotherapy. May perform service technician functions including operating rooms by distributing and maintaining room trays and anesthesia boxes. May perform narcotic technician functions. May perform medication reconciliation May perform meds-to-beds Skills and Attributes: Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Position Requirements: Work Experience No experience required upon hire.

Education

High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration Pharmacy Tech

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND CPhT
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health. Career Association (NHA) required within 6 months of employment in this position AND CPhT-Adv
  • Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Board of Pharmacy Technician Specialties (BPTS) preferred Organizational Responsibilities: Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
