Job description
Role Overview An Engineering Company is seeking an experienced, high-maturity Construction Project Manager to oversee civil infrastructure delivery. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the candidate will be responsible for end-to-end site execution, resource and equipment management, survey interpretation, design adjustments, and active client management with government representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Execution & Technical Supervision Oversee and direct day-to-day road construction activities from site mobilization to project completion, segment. Supervise civil works, including earthworks, sub-grade preparation, asphalt/concrete paving, culverts, and concrete drainage systems. Review engineering surveys, utilize surveying instruments, interpret survey data, and adjust design drawings to match real-time site conditions. Enforce quality control standards and sound civil engineering techniques across all site deliverables.
- Operations & Resource Management Coordinate site workers, sub-contractors, equipment operators, and site personnel. Manage, select, and track inventory for tools, materials, and heavy machinery/equipment on-site. Oversee work programs, resource allocations, and implementation schedules to ensure compliance with agreed construction timelines and budgets.
- Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary technical interface between the client and government clients, regulatory bodies, and local stakeholders. Attend site meetings, present daily/weekly progress updates, and resolve emerging client or site-level challenges promptly. Ensure all contractual performance conditions, specifications, and client expectations are met.
- Reporting, Risk & Safety Prepare structured internal reports for the Managing Director and external progress reports for clients. Conduct daily inspections to enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across all operations. Analyze, identify, and mitigate operational risks ahead of execution to prevent schedule delays or cost overruns.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng. / B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering or structural equivalent. Certification: Mandatory COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) certification. Work Experience: 5 to 10 years of post-qualification civil engineering experience. Critical Criteria: At least 75 % of total career history must be directly dedicated to road construction projects (paved roads, culverts, concrete drainage systems).
Added Advantage: Experience with bridge construction and structural works. Technical Mastery: Hands-on experience with surveying data interpretation, alignment setting, and structural design drawing modifications. Stakeholder Capability: Demonstrated experience directly liaising with government entities and public sector clients.
Leadership Profile: Mature leader capable of managing human resources, heavy machinery, sub-contractors, and high-stakes client relationships. Selection & Interview Process Stage 1: Virtual Interview with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stage 2: Physical Interview with the Chairman and Meeting with Executive Leadership Benefits Salary: 5 – 7 years of experience: ₦600,000 – ₦700,000 monthly net 8 – 10 years of experience: ₦1,000,000 – ₦1,500,000 monthly net Housing: On-site accommodation provided in Ajah and for all subsequent project locations.
