Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions in patients across a wide range of general surgery cases (e.g., gastrointestinal, abdominal, hernia, soft tissue, appendectomy). Perform surgeries using appropriate techniques, including open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) methods. Oversee and manage all aspects of surgical care, including preoperative assessment, patient education, informed consent, and postoperative recovery.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists to ensure safe and effective surgical care. Manage surgical complications and coordinate with ICU or other departments for complex post-operative care. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, operative reports, and follow-up plans. Participate in on-call rotations, emergency surgeries, and trauma care when required.
Adhere to hospital protocols, ethical guidelines, and infection control standards. Engage in continuing medical education and stay up to date with advancements in surgical techniques and technologies.
Qualifications
MBBS degree with an MS in General Surgery (or equivalent recognized qualification). Valid medical license and registration with the medical council. Proven experience as a General Surgeon, with a strong portfolio of successful surgeries. Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail. Strong decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in emergency or high-stakes situations. Familiarity with surgical instruments, laparoscopic tools, and EMR systems.
