Job description

About the Role

We manufacture welded stainless steel exhaust assemblies. We're looking for a Robotic Welding Engineer who works hands-on at the cell and also drives process development. You'll program robots, develop and optimize MIG and TIG weld parameters, and own the robotic welding process from new-part launch through stable production.

Key Responsibilities

Program, touch up, and optimize robotic weld paths on our OTC Daihen robots, and support future robot and welding cobot deployments Develop, document, and optimize MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) parameters for thin-wall stainless steel tubing and assemblies Develop weld processes for Inconel and other nickel alloys, including filler selection and heat input control Solve weld quality problems: burn-through, porosity, lack of fusion, distortion, and oxidation/sugaring Design and improve weld fixtures, tooling, and positioner setups for repeatability and cycle time Implement and tune seam tracking and touch sensing Create and maintain WPS/PQR documentation and weld inspection criteria, including cut-and-etch/macro testing Lead robotic welding work on new product launches, from feasibility and quoting input through production release Improve cycle time, first-pass yield, and consumable cost through data-driven process changes Evaluate and specify new robotic and cobot welding cells, and work with integrators and OEMs on installation and buy-off Train operators and technicians on robot operation, basic touch-ups, and weld quality standards Support PFMEA, control plans, and root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why) for weld-related issues Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent hands-on robotic welding experience Hands-on programming experience with at least one major industrial robot brand (FANUC, OTC Daihen, Yaskawa Motoman, ABB, or similar) Strong working knowledge of MIG and TIG processes, including independent parameter development Experience welding stainless steel, preferably thin-wall tube or sheet Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and AWS weld symbols Comfortable working on the production floor and splitting time between the cell and the desk Preferred Qualifications OTC Daihen robot experience Experience with multiple robot platforms and offline programming/simulation software Welding cobot experience (e.
