Mechanical Design Engineer – Machine Builder / Automation Integrator

Cubic Machinery is a machine tool builder and robotics integrator in Chino, CA. We design and build custom machines, robotic cells, and factory automation for aerospace, automotive, and precision manufacturers. Projects move fast: concept to running machine in weeks, not years.

What you'll do

Design complete custom machines and robotic cells: frames, fixtures, grippers, part feeders, guarding, and integration with CNC machines and robots. Select off-the-shelf components (Misumi, SMC, Festo, THK, motors and gearboxes) and size actuators, linear motion, and pneumatics. Design custom parts to be machined in-house, keeping them simple and fast to make and assemble.

Produce 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks quickly, then support build, debug, and installation on the floor. Work closely with controls engineers on sensors, PLC I/O, and motion.

What we're looking for

3+ years designing custom machinery, automation equipment, or robotic cells at a machine builder or integrator. Strong component selection: pneumatics, linear guides, ballscrews, servo/stepper sizing. Fast and practical; you can take a concept to a buildable design in days. SolidWorks proficiency; good DFM/DFA habits. Part feeding and CNC machine tending experience a plus.

Compensation

$70,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience.
