Matteson School District 162 Food Prep/Server � Lead Reports To: Food Service Manager (FSM) Supervises: None FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary The Food Prep/Server � Lead supports the operation of the school breakfast and lunch programs through food preparation, meal service, cashiering, sanitation, cleaning, and customer service activities.

In addition, the Lead provides coverage for the Food Service Manager (FSM) in the manager's absence. The Lead role does not include supervisory authority.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification required, or to be obtained within a District-established timeframe following employment. Prior food service or food preparation experience preferred. Demonstrated reliability and the ability to perform food service operations independently.

Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and coworkers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with preparation and service of breakfast and lunch meals. Prepare food items � fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, and related products � using proper portion control as determined by the National School Lunch Program and the Food Service Management Company. Serve meals and operate point-of-sale systems. Stock serving lines and service areas.

Monitor food temperatures as assigned. Maintain records and documentation as assigned. Receive, store, and rotate food products using FIFO practices. Wash, rinse, sanitize, and store equipment and utensils. Clean and sanitize food preparation, serving, storage, and dining areas, and sweep floors in kitchen and dining areas.

Maintain compliance with food safety requirements. Provide coverage for the Food Service Manager (FSM) in the manager's absence. Work assigned after-hours functions when needed. Perform other food service-related duties as assigned. Customer Service Responsibilities Interact professionally with students, staff, parents, and visitors.

Promote a positive meal service environment. Assist students with meal selection and meal service procedures. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a commercial food service environment and includes exposure to heat, cold temperatures, steam, kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, noise, and frequent interaction with students, staff, and visitors.

Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly lift up to 40 pounds. Evaluation Performance shall be evaluated annually by the Food Service Director. The Food Service Manager may provide input regarding the evaluation. Terms of Employment The work calendar, daily hours, work year, compensation, and benefits shall be established by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and Board policy.
