Manager of the Provo MTC
Job description
Help prepare the next generation of missionaries Every year, thousands of young missionaries walk through the doors of the Provo Missionary Training Center ready to serve. As MTC Manager, you'll help shape what happens next. You'll lead the teams, training and operations that prepare them to serve with confidence around the world.
In this leadership role, you'll put the vision and direction of the Missionary Executive Council into action. You'll report to the Director of Missionary Effectiveness and lead multiple teams through their managers and supervisors. You'll oversee staffing, missionary training, budgets and financial goals. You'll also work regularly with senior Church leaders, key internal and external organizations, and government officials.
If you're a seasoned leader who wants your work to have lasting, eternal impact, this role is for you. This is an at-will, fixed-term position with the potential for continuation based on business needs and performance.
What You'll Do
Lead people and shape outcomes Lead several teams through a group of managers and supervisors. Build a culture of excellence, unity and growth. Own the performance and results of your teams, with a clear focus on how well missionaries are prepared and how they do in the field. Work closely with the MTC presidency and ecclesiastical leaders so the spiritual and operational sides of training stay aligned.
Teach and train missionaries directly in workshops and other learning settings. Partner with management colleagues around the world to strengthen and improve missionary training across the global MTC network. Solve complex problems Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners, external organizations and vendors.
Work through complex and sometimes conflicting legal requirements and cultural settings with sound judgment and sensitivity. Bring order and momentum to complex efforts by aligning stakeholders and moving work forward with purpose. Provide the coordination and direction that keep a large, many-sided operation running smoothly.
Make a meaningful impact Bring thoughtful, strategic perspectives that shape key decisions and make sure results are timely and of high quality, for both the organization and the missionaries it serves.
What You'll Bring
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) plus 10 or more years of progressive professional experience, or a master's degree plus 8 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. A proven ability to work with other organizations and external entities and to turn shared goals into results.
Deep expertise across product, technology, service, training and strategy, gained in a complex, fast-moving environment. A history of giving innovative, seasoned direction that helps teams and organizations move forward. Outstanding professional skills and a strong record of delivering large, complex projects that needed support and coordination from many groups.
Direct people-management experience, including leading, developing and holding employees accountable. A natural ability to connect with, mentor and inspire young adults. Polished communication and diplomacy skills, used to persuade and influence at every level. Previous experience serving as a mission leader (preferred)
