The Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of Yamazaki Mazak Singapore (YMS), ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records and reporting. Working within a manufacturing and precision engineering environment, the role manages accounting transactions, month-end closing activities, inventory accounting, statutory compliance, and financial reporting while ensuring adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.

The incumbent will work closely with operational departments, auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to maintain strong financial governance and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  1. General Accounting & Financial Close Perform month-end and year-end closing activities accurately and within reporting deadlines. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations. Maintain the general ledger and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial transactions. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies or unusual entries. Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  2. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Oversight Support and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Review supplier invoices and ensure proper accounting treatment. Follow up on outstanding receivables and coordinate with internal stakeholders on collection matters. Ensure timely processing of vendor and customer transactions. Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  3. Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting Support inventory accounting processes, including inventory reconciliation and valuation. Maintain accurate accounting records relating to raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Assist in stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory verification exercises. Investigate inventory variances and work with Warehouse, Procurement, and Production teams to resolve discrepancies. Ensure inventory transactions are accurately captured in ERP systems.
  4. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly financial schedules and supporting reports. Support variance analysis and financial performance reporting. Assist management in preparing financial information required for decision-making. Track and report key financial indicators as assigned. Support consolidation schedules and group reporting requirements.
  5. Taxation, Audit & Statutory Compliance Prepare GST filings and support tax compliance activities. Assist with corporate tax schedules and tax-related requests. Coordinate external audit requirements and prepare audit schedules. Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities as required. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting obligations and accounting standards.
  6. Fixed Assets & Capital Expenditure Maintain fixed asset registers and supporting documentation. Record additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation accurately. Support asset verification exercises and reconciliation activities. Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets.
  7. Internal Controls & Governance Comply with company accounting policies, procedures, and internal control requirements. Identify control gaps and recommend improvements. Ensure accounting documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready. Support implementation of finance process improvements and automation initiatives. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information.
  8. ERP Systems & Process Improvement Ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (or equivalent ERP system). Support ERP enhancements, testing, and process improvements. Improve reporting efficiency and data accuracy through system optimization. Participate in finance transformation and digitalization initiatives where applicable.

Requirements

& Competencies Qualifications, Experience & Professional Maturity Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline. ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification preferred. Minimum 4–7 years of accounting experience. Experience in manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or MNC environments preferred.

Exposure to inventory accounting and month-end financial close processes. Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting. Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software. Strong knowledge of: Full Set Accounting Financial Reporting General Ledger Accounting Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Bank Reconciliation GST Compliance Fixed Assets Accounting Inventory Accounting Month-End Close Procedures Internal Controls Experience with ERP systems such as: Microsoft Dynamics 365 SAP Oracle Infor Epicor or equivalent Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
