Job description

Position: School Nurse Supervisor: School Building Principal District Nursing Supervisor or Lead Nurse Work Site: School Site Summary: Perform responsible and complex duties as it relates to school health policies and procedures Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential, controversial and sensitive nature.

Participate in planning, implementation and evaluation of the school health program in accordance with regulations of the State of New Mexico. Advocate for the health needs and rights of students. Administer health services to students using the nursing process to assess needs, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes.

Identify health problems including social, physical, and psychological factors that interfere with learning, through screening procedures, assessment and evaluation of the student. Facilitate communication between student, family, staff, medical provider and the community. Participate in health education program activities for students, staff and the community.

Maintain current health and immunization records, health information on student visits as required by the State of New Mexico. Supervise health assistants and/or school health clerks Support district and school efforts to keep CCSD safe and secure Support and comply with grant, program and/or funding source requirements Complete and comply with all required trainings annually Adhere to NM Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession (NMAC 6.

60.9.8) Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines, and local, state, and federal laws. Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or higher. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing.

Current Professional School Nurse License issued by the State of New Mexico. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Din� language, culture and history preferred Attendance at the School Nurse Orientation (one time) Physical/Job Requirements: Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.

Safety and Health: Completed and cleared background check Background check Pass drug test if required for position Exposure to hazardous/infectious agents. Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions. Knowledge of OSHA/FERPA/HIPPA regulations. Knowledge and compliance with district and school safety plans Equipment/Material Handled: Multimedia equipment, including current technology Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature and air quality Work interruptions Flexibility Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision Must complete applications and assignments within the timeframes allowed Extended work hours, on occasion Term of Employment: Exempt
