Special Education Aide

**Job Summary:

**Paraprofessional (Special Education Aide) works under the supervision of the classroom teacher and serves as a support person in the classroom. This position provides appropriate services to the students, helping to implement suggested educational activities and in monitoring student behavior.

Essential Functions:

• Assist teachers with the logistics of instructions. Including passing out books, supplies, attendance, and making copies
• Assist teachers in monitoring student’s work behavior
• Monitors children during lunch and recess
• Assists with movement of children through hallways and onto and off buses
• Assists teachers with reinforcing instruction and small group learning. This includes working with individuals or small groups of students, administering tests, grading tests and homework
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• An associate degree or at least 48 postsecondary education credits; or the successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Previous work with inner city youth a plus.

• FBI Criminal Background Clearance
