God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require.

Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of our clients. All of our services are provided at no cost to our clients.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional to join our team as a Staff Accountant. In this role, you will support the accounting function by organizing, analyzing, and verifying financial transactions and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. You will also perform monthly close activities to ensure financial reporting is completed accurately and on time.

This position plays a critical role in supporting our daily operations. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Provide general support to finance staff on multiple tasks and special projects as assigned. Month end accounting work; bank reconciliations, journal entries (Accruals, Prepaids and Deferrals). Review bank activity and document all cash receipts, including checks and electronic deposits. Preparation of monthly variance analysis of balance sheet and income/expense accounts.

Assist with the annual budget process. Assist with the annual audit. Assist with the preparation of the 990 tax filings.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field. Prior experience in an accounting role, especially in a non-profit environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong proficiency with standard accounting software, including NetSuite. Excellent communication. Demonstrates superior attention to detail.

Operates effectively as part of a team and independently. Demonstrates superior time management skills with the ability to work effectively under, and consistently meet, deadlines, and adapt priorities in a fast-paced environment.
