Post-Doctoral Fellow – Mamedov Lab
Job description
Dr. Murad Mamedov’s laboratory at The Wistar Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. The Mamedov Lab uses CRISPR screens and functional genomics to understand detection of cancer cell by the human immune system. We study how human γδ T cells sense aberrant tumor cell states, with the goal of developing novel and broadly accessible immunotherapies.
We collaborate with labs across the University of Pennsylvania campus and beyond as we work toward these goals. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead high-impact projects focused on T cell receptor (TCR) target discovery, CRISPR screening and engineering of human T cells, and T cell detection of stress-remodeled cancer cells.
This work will build on and significantly expand beyond our published work on human γδ T cell recognition and killing of cancer cells (Nature, PMID: 37648854). Candidates with expertise in T cell biology, cancer immunology, in vitro cancer models, genomics, and/or gene editing are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have recently obtained or be nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant field (immunology, cancer biology, genetics, and so on).
Candidates should also have at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication. In addition to the online application, interested individuals should submit the following as a single PDF to Dr. Murad Mamedov ( [email protected] ): (1) CV; (2) one-page cover letter detailing scientific interest in the lab, potential interest areas for research projects, and career aspirations; and (3) contact information for three references.
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. The Wistar Institute is in Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania campus. Wistar provides resources for cutting-edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities. The Wistar Institute is a world leader in early-stage discovery science in the areas of cancer, immunology, and infectious disease.
Wistar is committed to accelerating research advances from bench to bedside through brilliant science and distinctive approaches to collaboration among scientific investigators and academic and industry partners.
