Charleston is Charleston County School District's alternative certification pathway for talented, knowledgeable professionals ready to translate their expertise into a rewarding teaching career in CCSD.. If you qualify, you will receive a Teach. Charleston Evaluation Letter detailing your qualified certification areas and next steps. Eligibility Requirements A conferred bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75. A minimum of 18 credit hours in the desired field of certification with a grade of "C" or higher for applicants seeking certification in areas other than Special Education: Multi-Categorical, Early Childhood, Elementary and ESOL.

Have not previously completed student teaching in a traditional teacher preparation program or earned a teaching certificate. Certification Fields Offered Primary Levels Early Childhood (PK-3) Elementary (Grades 2-6) Middle School Middle Level Language Arts Middle Level Mathematics Middle Level Science Middle Level Social Studies High School Agriculture Business and Marketing Education Computer Science English Family and Consumer Science Industrial Technology Education Mathematics Science Social Studies K-12 Areas Art English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Music Special Education: Multi-Categorical World Languages (French, German & Spanish) To be fully eligible for a teaching position in CCSD, candidates must qualify for the program, pass the required Praxis subject area exam(s), and successfully complete a Teach.
