Job description
Hadassah is seeking an Associate Managing Director (AMD) to serve as a senior leader for Hadassah's Florida Region, partnering closely with the Managing Director to advance organizational priorities and ensure effective support for regional and chapter leadership, volunteers, and members. The AMD provides leadership and oversight for assigned areas of responsibility, supports staff and volunteer engagement, and helps coordinate programs, operations, and initiatives throughout Florida.
The AMD also represents the Managing Director and assumes designated responsibilities as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with the Managing Director to set Geographic Area priorities, support the volunteers’ annual plans, and translate organizational initiatives into realistic local goals and coordinated action. Build productive relationships with Region Presidents, Chapter Presidents, Geographic Area Resource Chairs, and other volunteer leaders.
Partner with volunteer and staff leaders on succession planning, leadership development, unit engagement, revitalization, and new-member outreach, including engagement with Evolve. Coordinate Geographic Area work across staff team, clarify responsibilities, and ensure timely, consistent support for volunteers and members.
Supervise assigned staff, set clear expectations, support professional development, and provide ongoing feedback and accountability. Along with the volunteers, develop programs and events that increase fundraising and membership, strengthen community visibility, share resources and effective practices, and use staff and financial resources responsibly.
Work with volunteer leaders, Geographic Area staff, and Philanthropy colleagues, when appropriate, to coordinate events and engagement opportunities to grow philanthropy. Oversee assigned budgets, office operations, facilities, and administrative needs in coordination with the Managing Director and appropriate departments, following organizational policies and approval controls.
Identify staff, volunteer, financial, policy, operational, or reputational concerns; recommend solutions; and consult or escalate when appropriate. Assume designated responsibilities in the Managing Director’s absence and lead special projects as assigned. Other duties as required. Required Knowledge and Experience Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of relevant progressive experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management experience in a nonprofit, membership, community-based, or similarly complex organization, including staff supervision and cross-functional coordination. Experience working with influential volunteers or other non-staff stakeholders and managing conflict, change, and competing priorities. Demonstrated success increasing fundraising and member engagement, developing volunteer leaders, building sustainable communities, as well as planning and executing large-scale events.
Experience developing and monitoring budgets and using financial information to support decisions.
Required Skills
Strong relationship-building, communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills. Excellent organization, follow-through, judgment, and discretion, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience using customer relationship management systems.
Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Teams is preferred. Ability to travel within the Geographic Area and work occasional evenings and weekends.
