This position serves as the Air Quality, Air Permit, GHG, methane intensity, and federal regulations Subject Matter Expert (SME). The successful candidate will focus heavily on air quality compliance , actively engaging in air permitting and incorporating applicable federal and state environmental regulations into company operations across multiple states.
The position supports all KNTK assets including the gas plants, compressor stations, crude system, water system and the associated gathering systems. This position will assist operations in achieving KNTK EHS goals with respect to environmental projects and compliance in our operations. A proven ability to solve problems, learn new material, adapt to change and be an effective communicator are key traits to success in this position.
This position reports to the Environmental Projects Manager. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Lead Air Permitting & Compliance: Ensure full compliance and execution of Title V operating permits and New Source Review (NSR) permits. This includes preparing applications, calculating emission inventories, and establishing compliance monitoring and reporting systems.
Assist with organizing, planning, implementing, and auditing the environmental programs and policies for the operation, ensuring compliance as required by regulatory agencies and corporate policy. Ensure permits are accurate and complete for wastewater permits and site water permits, including the oversight of sample collection for accuracy.
Implement new processes and procedures, including improving efficiency for data collection and reporting. Assist with the review of MOC’s for environmental impacts, including NSR compliance, and documenting necessary information to the file or helping to initiate the permitting process when required. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, including but not limited to reporting releases and other potential non-compliances to all applicable agencies and internal personnel.
Assist with being point of contact for both regulatory agencies and operations on required reports, payments, inspections, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Assist with compliance audits, as needed, and assist in facilitating resolution of action items from findings of reviews, inspections, and incident investigations.
Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations that affect the plant/compressor station/ pipeline site. Communicate regular updates on ES&H releases, project updates, permit deviations, and enforcement status to the Environmental Project Manager for Operations management meetings. Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective filing system for all operational data to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Ability to learn and comprehend different state permit processes, the operating principles of natural gas compression and natural gas processing facilities. Regular and reliable attendance is required. As a member of the EHS team, demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: 2 plus years of dedicated experience in air quality compliance, air permitting, and emissions reporting within the oil and gas or midstream industry. High knowledge base of State and Federal environmental regulations and standards applicable to gathering systems, field compression, natural gas processing facilities, and NGL/Crude pipelines, including experience working with Regulatory Agencies such as TRC, TCEQ, EPA, etc.
Experience in gathering data for developing permits (NSR and TV) across multiple states and submitting in a timely manager as required by applicable Regulatory Agencies. Greenhouse gas data collection and reporting, Emission inventories, TRI Strong written and verbal communication. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
Project management: permitting and new process implementation Ability to understand and follow directions. Maintain discretion and confidentiality. Good time management and organizational skills. Computer knowledge (MS Office). Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an area of Environmental study or an engineering discipline; Pro.
Max Cority Iconic Air Other EHS software Working Conditions: Travel to KNTK plants and worksites as needed (10 – 20%). Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Live within a 75-mile radius of company facilities. Will be working in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
Will work outdoors in adverse or extreme weather conditions. Will be required to frequently drive to other field facilities within their assigned region. Available outside of normal working hours as needed for business necessity. Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above. Will require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. in a safe manner on an occasional basis. Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver's license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
