Complex Chief Engineering

Bình Định, VietnamFull-timePosted Oct 15, 2026

Job description

Job Location: Avani Quy Nhon Resort & Spa At Avani, we’re all about finding that perfect balance — between cool and kind, design and function, service and privacy. We’ve built our hotels and resorts around this philosophy: vibrant social spaces that vibe with the day, stylish rooms that simply work, and honest, locally inspired food.

We embrace an upbeat service culture that genuinely respects the art of hospitality. With a growing portfolio across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australia, Avani is a brand on the move. If you take real pride in the little things — and believe that a warm welcome and a genuine smile make all the difference — you’ll fit right in here.

  1. Safety, Compliance and Risk
  • Own compliance with all Vietnamese statutory requirements for fire prevention and fighting, electrical safety, pressure and lifting equipment, water quality, wastewater discharge, and environmental and occupational safety. Keep all licences, inspections and certificates current and on file.
  • Ensure Fire, Life & Safety systems are tested, maintained and documented to Minor standards. Report any gap to the General Manager immediately.
  • Lead the engineering component of police, fire and authority inspections and ensure the team is inspection-ready at all times.
  • Own the storm and typhoon preparedness plan.
  • Maintain a risk register for critical systems (power, water, wastewater, fuel, cooling and hot water) with tested contingency plans.
  1. Asset Management and Maintenance
  • Own the preventive maintenance programme built on the Minor Engineering Services Manual: PM plans, checklists, frequencies and completion tracking.
  • Run a CMMS (or equivalent tracker) for work orders, asset register, spares and maintenance history. Report PM completion, repeat failures and downtime monthly.
  • Prioritise and close guest-impacting and room-out-of-order requests within defined response times. Run a daily room and villa readiness check with Housekeeping and Front Office.
  • Maintain a 5-year asset lifecycle and replacement plan for all key systems, including air-conditioning, hot water heat pumps, pools, generators and electrical distribution, villa and room fabric, and external works.
  • Evaluate repair vs. replace decisions with a written technical and financial justification, and submit significant technical proposals to the Group Engineering Director for validation before commitment.
  1. Projects, Capex and Brand Conversion
  • Act as the owner-side technical lead for renovations, capex and brand-conversion projects.
  • Ensure brand standards, design intent and as-built documentation are delivered and filed on completion.
  • Report project status, budget variance and risks to the General Manager and, where required, to the owner and Group.
  1. Energy, Water and ESG
  • Monitor daily consumption of electricity, water, fuel and gas for each property against budget and ESG KPIs, and publish a daily HOD utilities report.
  • Identify, cost and implement energy and water saving measures with a defined payback. Track delivered savings.
  • Support group sustainability and ESG initiatives and reporting with accurate, auditable data.
  1. Financial Management
  • Prepare the annual Engineering budget and provide engineering input to the complex’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Control departmental payroll, manning and overtime, and all R&M and operating expenditure within approved budget and authority limits.
  • Manage service contracts and vendors: scope, SLAs, pricing, performance review and renewal. Run competitive quotations for purchases above the set threshold.
  • Control spares, stock and tools. Keep the inventory accurate and the cost of repeat failures visible.
  1. People and Culture
  • Lead, coach and discipline the engineering team across all properties. Set clear accountabilities and hold people to them.
  • Build technical capability through a training matrix covering safety, electrical, mechanical, pool/water and systems skills, delivered in Vietnamese where needed. Maintain succession cover for each critical post.
  • Work with HR on recruitment, performance management, manning and retention.
  • Ensure technicians are well presented, discreet and guest-aware when working in guest areas.
  • Embed Anantara Service Culture standards within the department and model them personally.
  1. Collaboration
  • Be an active member of the Executive Committee and the daily operations meeting. Bring clear technical advice and timelines.
  • Partner with Rooms, F&B, Spa, Events, Housekeeping and Sales on guest-impacting issues, event set-ups and out-of-order inventory.
  • Represent the hotels with contractors, authorities, insurers, consultants and the owner’s representatives. Not the right fit? Set up email alerts as new job postings become available that meet your interest!
