Job description
Gerber Kawasaki is seeking an experienced Senior AI & Data Engineer to help transform our growing portfolio of AI-powered financial applications into a secure, scalable, and reliable technology platform. With more than 20 working AI tools already developed across financial planning, tax analysis, retirement modeling, and portfolio analytics, we are looking for someone who can take these applications to the next level—strengthening their infrastructure, integrating live financial data, and developing innovative solutions that support our advisors and clients.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining applied AI, software development, and data engineering. You'll have the opportunity to build upon existing technology, shape our AI infrastructure, and play a meaningful role in the firm's continued innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Transform existing AI prototypes into secure, scalable, production-ready applications using Python, TypeScript, React, and modern AI technologies. Data Engineering & Integration: Design and maintain reliable data pipelines connecting Orion, Salesforce, Databricks, market-data providers, and other financial systems. Financial Modeling & Analytics: Develop and integrate shared calculation engines supporting tax modeling, retirement projections, Monte Carlo simulations, portfolio analytics, and equity compensation.
LLM Integration & Automation: Build and deploy AI-powered workflows using Claude, OpenAI, APIs, and related frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and advisor capabilities. Security & Infrastructure: Implement secure authentication, role-based access, audit logging, automated testing, and CI/CD processes. Data Quality & Reliability: Establish validation checks, monitoring systems, and documentation to support accurate, reliable, and maintainable applications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leadership, advisors, and technology teams to improve existing tools, develop new solutions, and identify opportunities for automation. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on experience deploying production applications.
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React. Experience developing and deploying applications using LLM APIs such as Claude, OpenAI, or similar technologies. Experience designing and maintaining production data pipelines, data models, and system integrations. Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure application development.
Experience implementing data-quality checks and validating application outputs. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar data platforms. Familiarity with Orion, Salesforce, Agentforce, or financial data APIs. Experience with MCP, AI agent frameworks, retrieval systems, and LLM evaluations. Background in fintech, wealth management, financial planning, or tax software. Knowledge of portfolio analytics, equity compensation, tax modeling, or Monte Carlo simulations.
What You'll Help Build You'll play an important role in advancing GK's AI infrastructure, including: Bringing existing AI applications into a centralized, secure, and maintainable development environment. Building reusable financial calculation libraries and reliable data integrations. Deploying secure applications that support advisors and financial planning workflows.
Establishing scalable engineering practices, automated testing, and monitoring. Helping shape the next generation of AI-powered tools across the firm. Why Join Gerber Kawasaki?
