• SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Salary Range: Undisclosed, The Senior Buyer Planner for Apparel is a key role within the Supply Chain Department responsible for ensuring that inventory supply best meets global requirements across multiple distribution and sales channels. This role should have a keen understanding of material planning, sales seasonality, vendor capacity, and international transit times. This knowledge is required in order to strike the optimal balance between healthy inventory availability and inventory risk / high carrying costs. The Buyer Planner will own and execute a variety of purchasing and inventory management transactions. These include, but are not limited to: PO writing, channel allocation, production monitoring and troubleshooting, shipment tracking, and invoicing activities. The Buyer Planner will work as a liaison between Black Diamond and suppliers to support capacity planning and load balancing, especially when there are constraints or seasonality challenges. The role serves as main point of contact for Sales in regards to product availability.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field. Work Experience Required: 1+ years in a purchasing role utilizing an ERP platform and 1+ years experience in a forecast, capacity, production or supply planning environment. Preferred: 4+ years of experience in planning, purchasing and inventory control within the apparel, softgoods, or textiles industry.

Skills and general experience:

• Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to understand and communicate with diverse hierarchical/cultural audiences.
• Proven ability to multi-task, organize, schedule, and track information between various sources.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experienced with ERP / MRP tools such as Navision, Business Central, Netstock IBP or similar.
• Ability to work cooperatively across multiple functions and within a team-based structure.
• Must have an excellent understanding of the upstream and downstream of the supply chain process.
• Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply planning, preferably involving finished goods in apparel, accessories, textiles, or softgoods.
• Strong understanding of inventory planning fundamentals, including demand forecasting, product lead times, minimum order quantities, safety stock, reorder points, and inventory optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze purchasing data, evaluate cost and inventory trade-offs, and make sound decisions with limited oversight. Alternative qualification: 4+ years of relevant purchasing, inventory control, and requirements planning may substitute for college degree. 1. Supply Purchasing & Order Management a. Own the purchasing process for Black Diamond apparel, from evaluating purchasing requirements through purchase order placement, production, shipment, and final receipt. b. Develop and execute purchasing plans based on demand forecasts, inventory positions, minimum order requirements, supplier lead times, and established business objectives. c. Report projected purchase requirements to key stakeholders; surface potential risk, opportunity, or misalignment. d. Monitor open purchase orders and proactively resolve production discrepancies, delays, shortages, cancellations, and general changes to supplier commitments.
2. Supplier Relationship Management a. Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned suppliers regarding production status, pricing discrepancies, and delivery updates. b. Monitor supplier performance against expectations regarding cost, quality, responsiveness, and on-time delivery. Elevate issues as needed. c. Develop strong supplier partnerships that support reliable fulfillment, cost competitiveness, and continuous improvement.
3. Broader Supply Chain Coordination & Delivery Execution a. Coordinate with suppliers, logistics, freight forwarders, quality teams, and warehouse operations to support timely and accurate receipt of finished goods. b. Track production milestones, shipment status, and inbound delivery schedules. c. Resolve delivery exceptions, including quantity discrepancies, damaged goods, quality holds, and other issues that may affect product availability. d. Partner with internal stakeholders to prioritize critical orders and develop contingency plans when supply disruptions occur. e. Ensure purchasing activities support packaging, labeling, quality, and applicable compliance requirements.
4. Ongoing Process Documentation and Improvement a. Maintain accurate information on product lead time, minimum order requirements, and purchase price within the company's ERP and related planning systems. b. Recommend and implement improvements to purchasing workflows, supplier coordination, inventory management, and reporting processes. c. Provide clear communication regarding purchasing status, emerging risks, and recommended actions to relevant stakeholders and leadership. d.
