Job description

Primary Purpose: Monitor and assist students assigned to ISS with their class work.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or GED and ESSA or NCLB Certificate OR Associates degree or 48 college hours from an accredited college Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Strong classroom management skills Ability to interact and direct student behavior in a positive manner Ability to relate well with students in difficult situations Must have a positive personality and be well groomed Experience: Experience working with students (preferred) Major Responsibilities and Duties: Monitor students assigned to ISS and provide a well-managed class environment.

Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Consult and assist classroom teachers in dispensing class work to students assigned to ISS. Implement district policies. Assist in keeping student records and reports current. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.

Alerts the teacher and administration to any problems or special information about an individual student. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for students assigned to ISS Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling Motion: Repetitive hand motions and reaching Lifting: May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
