GLSM Internship Internship Areas: Landscape Maintenance Job Management Pruning/ Hedging Mowing/ trimming Xeriscape management Equipment Operation Turf Care Safety Training Irrigation Irrigation Troubleshooting / Repair Irrigation Install Maintenance of Irrigation Systems Controller Programming Watering Schedule System Evaluation and Mapping Technology and smart controllers Landscape Installation Job Management Best Installation Practices Seasonal Color Installation Plan Reading Equipment Operation Design and Office Management Concept Designs Landscape Plans and Construction Documents Bidding and Estimating Sales and Presentations Business Management Customer Service Spray Weed Control Pest Control Product Identification Identification of Common Pests and Diseases Calculation of Mix Rates Best Practices Length of internship: Three to five months, depending on personal schedule and school calendar.
Not to exceed six months. Job requirements: Ability to do manual labor in the field, and spend long days in the hot sun Valid drivers’ license, and can drive on Green Summit’s insurance (preferred) Ability to lift 40 lbs. Office skills: proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as any form of written communication Mentorship Program: An employee of Green Summit will be assigned as a mentor to each intern.
This mentor will provide the intern with guidance and support throughout the summer. The mentor will meet with their intern mentee at regular times throughout the summer to discuss their experience so far and to make any adjustments or suggestions regarding their rotation schedule. The mentor program allows the intern to have one point of contact to deal with any concerns that may arise over the summer.
Mentors can provide valuable insight to the company and share their experiences with the interns. Internship Benefits: Interns will gain valuable experience in landscape management by exploring areas of interest and gaining hands on experience prior to graduation. They will learn proper techniques and practices while earning income simultaneously.
Interns will gain a competitive edge when seeking employment as they develop leadership and management skills both directly and indirectly through their internship experience. Extra Activities: Interns will be able to participate in a few additional company-sponsored activities throughout the summer to help them enjoy their time and explore the recreation that New Mexico has to offer.
Activities may include hiking, Albuquerque Isotopes baseball games, visits to The Plaza in Santa Fe, etc.
Compensation
$16.00 per hour $350.00/month housing stipend
