Director

Job Overview Design Hire is seeking a Director of Construction and Infrastructure to lead critical infrastructure operations, maintenance strategies, and facility performance for a leading organization in the data center industry. This leadership role will oversee essential electrical and mechanical systems, drive preventive maintenance initiatives, and manage budgets to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

The ideal candidate brings extensive data center infrastructure experience, strong technical leadership, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the performance, reliability, and lifecycle management of critical facility equipment, including HVAC, cooling, and other mechanical systems supporting data center operations. Coordinate preventive maintenance programs, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.

Collaborate with electrical, facilities, and operations teams to monitor infrastructure performance, address system deficiencies, and support integrated facility operations. Manage maintenance budgets, evaluate service contracts, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising system reliability.

Review building system alarms, operational data, and maintenance records to identify recurring issues, recommend improvements, and support compliance with applicable safety standards and facility requirements.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience supporting data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems. Strong technical understanding of critical facility environments and the operational requirements of mission-critical infrastructure. Experience with HVAC equipment, cooling systems, and mechanical plant operations in large-scale facilities.

Familiarity with electrical infrastructure, including UPS and power distribution systems, generators, and transformers. Working knowledge of fire protection systems, fire alarms, and building management systems (BMS). Experience developing maintenance plans, coordinating contractors, and managing equipment service schedules.

Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and evaluate operational performance. Formal training or certification in electrical systems is preferred; strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills are essential.
