Bus Driver

FY 27 (2026-2027) Contract Day: 180 days Start Date: 08/04/2026 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Retirement: Public School Retirement Department: Transportation Essential Duties: -Assumes personal responsibility for obeying all traffic laws and for compliance with the regulation of the Department of Public Safety governing the operation of school buses.

-Assumes major responsibility for the safety of children on the bus conforming to safety regulations. -Conducts a daily five-minute walk-around and inside safety check of the bus. -Report damages to the interior of the bus to the appropriate principal and transportation director. -Assumes responsibility for the sanitary condition of the bus.

Cleans bus daily and washes the bus, at least monthly. -Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. Reports behavior problems and student damage to the bus to the appropriate principal. -Communicates effectively with parents, students, co-workers, emergency personnel and school system employees. -Possesses and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position.

-Follows work schedule and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
