Shop Mechanic

• CARLSBAD, NM, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Position Summary The Shop Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on company equipment, vehicles, and tools used in field operations. This role ensures all machinery and fleet assets are safe, reliable, and in optimal working condition. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. A Class A or B CDL is preferred to support transport and testing of heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trailers, generators, compressors, and other field equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues; complete repairs efficiently and accurately. Conduct inspections, preventative maintenance, and documentation of service work. Assist with setup, assembly, and testing of equipment used in field operations.

Maintain organized shop areas, tools, and parts inventory. Operate forklifts, hoists, and other shop machinery safely and efficiently. Perform DOT inspections and prepare vehicles/equipment for field deployment. Support field technicians with troubleshooting and repair needs. Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate repair status to management.

Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician (diesel, hydraulic, or industrial preferred). Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical diagnostics, and repair tools. Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical instructions.

Commitment to safety and teamwork. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Preferred: Class A or B CDL license (or willingness to obtain). Experience with oilfield, industrial, or construction equipment. Welding and fabrication experience. ASE or equivalent certifications. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
