Substitute Teacher

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Ability to adapt to various teaching environments.

Essential Functions

Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, ensuring that learning objectives are met. Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior effectively, addressing any issues in accordance with school policy. Recess duty as needed. Applications will be reviewed by an Administrator.

If you receive notification from the district office that you are selected to be a Substitute Teacher, you will receive instructions via email to complete the Expanded Criminal History Check with DCS Search.

Substitute teachers are paid $95.00 per full day and $47.50 per half day to sub for a teacher. The pay rate to sub for an instructional assistant is $12.66 per hour. Substitute teachers work on an as-needed basis based on BHMSD employee absences. BHMSD cannot guarantee a specific number of hours a substitute teacher will work in any given pay period.
