Meet Our Team: https://www.dbhwwealthpartners.com/our-team Job Summary: The Tax Intern position offers exposure to tax compliance, accounting, and administrative functions within a professional services environment. Interns will assist with tax returns, financial statements, and client documentation while developing skills in tax research, software tools, and industry procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities: Tax Preparation & Support
- Assist in the preparation of individual and business tax returns under supervision.
- Organize and review financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct basic tax research on federal, state, and local regulations. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Support the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Enter and reconcile transactions in accounting software. Client File Management
- Maintain and update client records in both digital and physical formats.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for client files. Administrative & Team Support
- Provide clerical support such as scanning, filing, and data entry.
- Assist accountants and tax preparers with daily tasks and projects.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to workflow improvements. Professional Development
- Shadow experienced tax preparers and accountants to learn best practices.
- Gain exposure to IRS regulations, GAAP, and firm-specific procedures.
- Participate in training sessions on tax software and accounting tools. Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn/utilize several industry specific software required to perform job responsibilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Junior (rising senior) or Senior year student with a strong academic standing.
- 0-2 years of experience in tax administration work or equivalent preferred. Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
