Job description

Family Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides quality, affordable primary care, dental, and behavioral health services. Our “high touch, high tech” clinics offer unique patient focused care to anyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay. We are rapidly growing in Sandusky, Ohio at our two locations as well as in Norwalk, Ohio and surrounding areas.

We also offer behavioral health and primary care at several local schools in hopes of eliminating barriers to those needing services. We are looking for a Billing Specialist will oversee the Dental patient accounts to properly collect and verify insurance information for new and existing patients. This position will work closely with insurance carriers, providers and third-party billing to resolve any eligibility issues and ensure timely filing.

Responsibilities

Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients Follow up on unpaid claims and denials Resolve billing discrepancies and appeal denied claims Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records Serves as a liaison for the Dental providers, patients or other responsible persons, and revenue sources to ensure the accuracy of charges.

Maintains records of transactions and account resolutions. Prepares correspondence for collection of accounts. Maintains communication with patients and third-party billing until accounts are paid. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment This job operates in a health care office environment. Must have the ability to travel independently throughout the facility to access information from other departments. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience Associate degree or proven experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role Knowledge of dental billing procedures and codes Familiarity with insurance guidelines and regulations Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Additional Eligibility Qualifications Ability to work as a team member.
