Job description
Metric Engineering is seeking an experienced Roadway Professional Engineer (PE) to join our growing transportation team. This position will play a key role in the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of roadway projects throughout Florida. This position offers an opportunity to lead projects from initial concept through final design and construction while supporting client relationships, business development, and the continued growth of Metric Engineering’s transportation practice.
The ideal candidate will reside in West, Southwest or South Florida. Some on-stie work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead roadway and related infrastructure design from concept through final plans. Design roadway horizontal and vertical alignments. Conduct roadside evaluation and design. Design temporary traffic control plans (TTCP). Prepare construction plans. Prepare reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
Apply FDOT standards, policies, and design criteria throughout project development. Coordinate roadway, drainage, utility, traffic, and other design elements with multidisciplinary project teams. Deliver Projects: Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations while coordinating with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and project teams.
Lead Pursuits: Identify opportunities, develop pursuit strategies, prepare proposals, participate in interviews, and help secure new projects. Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and identify opportunities for future work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required 8+ years of roadway design experience Demonstrated project management experience Experience independently managing projects, clients, schedules, budgets Experience supporting or leading business development pursuits, proposals, and interviews Proficiency with Open.
Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, or equivalent roadway/civil design software Prior FDOT experience and strong knowledge of FDOT Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans Knowledge of roadway drainage design and related infrastructure preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills About Us: Metric Engineering, Inc.
