Job description
Description We are looking for a qualified Afterschool Pre-K Teacher to help design and implement an afterschool program for pre-k students onsite in their school, Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, every day that public schools are in session. The program will operate separately from, but within the context of a comprehensive afterschool program for school-age children in the same location.
Our programs are dedicated to supporting the social and emotional learning of participants by providing choice-based activities that empower student voices, and delivery methods that develop compassion, understanding and kindness. The pre-k teacher will work with the program director, education specialist, and a teaching assistant to develop a varied schedule for a group of 12-14 children each day.
Pay Rate $50-$60 per hour Duties and Responsibilities Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts positively Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through project-based learning Ensure they are safe at all times Organize snack, rest, and play times, including coordinating gym use for physical activities Track children’s progress and report to the program director Collaborate with other educators Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards Requirements Proven experience as a Teacher of preschool age children Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms Excellent communication and instructional skills Ability to act as mediator between children Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable Certification in child CPR BS/BA in education or relevant field
