Lines is to promote health and social resiliency within Urban American Indian communities. Native American Life. Lines applies principles of trauma informed care to provide culturally centered behavioral health, dental, outreach and referral services. AGENCY OVERVIEW Native American Lifelines Inc. (NAL) is a small nonprofit community-based agency in Baltimore, MD, with an additional service location in Boston, MA. NAL serves American Indians/Alaskan Natives, primarily providing health education, health promotion, case management, substance abuse counseling, dental services, transportation, and support groups. Our program is part of a network of 42 Urban Indian Health Organizations nationally and a member of the National Council of Urban Indian Health. NAL’s substance use & mental health outpatient treatment program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Coordinator collaborates with the Grants Manager and Finance Director to ensure that Native American Life. Lines maintains sound fiscal health and upholds its responsibilities to all federal, state, independent, and private vendors, funders, and stakeholders. This position provides day-to-day support to the Finance Department and predominantly manages Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and all purchasing related activity including inventory checks and controls.
The Finance Coordinator will proactively address regular payments to critical vendors, coordinate office purchasing, and manage receipts and acknowledgment of donations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Data Entry & Record Keeping: Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting systems; Maintain organized digital and physical financial records Bank & Account Reconciliation: Compare internal records with bank statements; Identify and resolve inconsistencies; Ensure all transactions are properly recorded Coordinating accounts payable, processing requests, and making payments in a timely manner with appropriate follow-up.
End of month, quarterly, and mid-year reconciliation of purchase of care requests, vendor payments/purchases, and travel requests. Processing departmental mail Preparing deposits in coordination with the Finance Director Recording and reporting electronic donations and payments via QBO Completing the full cycle of purchases/assisting staff in full-cycle purchasing and reconciliation for both the Baltimore and Boston locations Prepare manual checks via QBO for manual processing and signatures Ensuring that purchases meet standard sales tax exemption requirements as applicable and appropriate In collaboration with the Operations Director and Office Assistant, establish and maintain inventory checks and controls.
Handling petty cash as necessary, as per organizational fiscal policy. TELEWORK/REMOTE WORK This position is eligible for limited telework after 90 days, or situationally as determined by leadership. Some travel between NAL service locations in Baltimore and Boston may be required. All work-related travel will be paid for by NAL.
HOURS: Business hours are Monday
- Friday 9am – 5pm. Some Evenings and weekends will be required, particularly around outreach and community and cultural events.

Union Membership: This role is part of the UCFW Local 27 bargaining unit. The labor contract is currently being negotiated; final wages, benefits, and workplace rules will be determined by the ratified agreement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
AND/OR EXPERIENCE Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 2+ years of accounts payable/accounts receivable experience Preferred Qualifications Non-profit finance experience Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Admin, Accounting, or similar area of study; work experience may be substituted for degree. Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities Familiarity with United States Code 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Superior professional ethics and decision-making skills Strong ability for self-direction and time management Strong record-keeping and organizational skills Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online Professional written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, with supervision, and in groups as needed Strong Customer Service skills: providing services to customers based on their needs Clerical skills: General office work such as filing and storing information Familiarity with computers/electronics and willingness to learn new systems as needed
