The Applied Science Associate I is part of a well-coordinated floriculture team and will support the cultivation of cannabis plants in an aseptic environment for commercial production. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state-regulated system and adhere to timelines and SOPs.

Curio Applied Science Associates must also focus on employee safety and maintain a very clean facility and lab. Please note: This position involves working with plant material, which may include exposure to pollen, allergens, and other plant-related substances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass-scale clone production. Collect nodal stem samples for use in micropropagation and tissue culture research of Cannabis . Record data in laboratory notebook, data system, and/or Excel. Operation of laboratory equipment in a safe manner.

Assure cleanliness and organization of glassware, plasticware, and other supplies as needed. Assure the cleanliness of the lab environment. Maintain an organized work environment. Ability to execute techniques consistently. Properly document all applicable activities in accordance with standards set by the State and the company.

Learn new laboratory techniques and use new equipment with instruction. Supports experiments in the garden and follows all Floriculture SOPS. Helps harvest, buck, label, and/or trim trial plants as needed. Assists with bottom pruning, defoliation, irrigation, transplanting, pinching, and/or releasing biologicals in R&D rooms as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience working with plants or in a lab environment is preferred. Ability to safely use sharp instruments. Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments. Ability to work around chemicals and fertilizers safely. Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use of scientific equipment. Ability to use sterile techniques Ability to make buffers and plant media as needed Specific equipment and software for this position: Data systems Excel Autoclave Media dispenser Scale/Balance pH meter Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibility for others.
