Job description
HACKENSACK PUBLIC SCHOOLS ESSA FUNDED MENTORSHIP PROGRAM TEACHERS 2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR Description: Eight (8) staff members/teachers Hackensack Middle School is seeking staff members to serve as mentors for the 2026-2027 school year. Mentors will meet with students weekly after school to support their attendance, academic, social, and emotional needs while helping them develop positive relationships and educational and personal goals.
Mentors Will: Plan and facilitate weekly mentoring activities based on identified student needs and curriculum. Provide students with academic guidance, resources, and strategies to address academic and personal challenges. Communicate with families regarding student progress, attendance, and program activities as appropriate.
Plan and coordinate one educational field trip and a culminating activity aligned with program goals. Maintain and submit required attendance, lesson plans, program data, and all grant documentation. Monitor student participation and progress and evaluate program effectiveness. Prepare and deliver required Mentorship Program presentations at designated staff meetings.
Communicate with administrators regarding program needs and submit an end of program report to the lead administrator. Complete additional program related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Appropriate New Jersey State Teacher Certification. Paraprofessionals/Support Staff: Currently employed by Hackensack Public Schools with 60 college credits or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment. Ability to effectively support students' academic, social, emotional, and attendance needs. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and technology skills.
Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality. Previous mentoring or social emotional learning experience preferred. Working Conditions On site at Hackensack Middle School. October 2026 through May/June 2027. Weekly after school meetings with students. No more than 42 hours per mentor. Salary: As per HBOE/HEA Agreement Application Procedure: Apply online via Frontline/AppliTrack.
